The South by South West music festival just took place in Austin, TX. There were hundreds of great bands and musicians from all over the world. Some classic hit bands from the 80s came back to give outstanding free performances for their fans at Auditorium Shores. Hit bands such as The Stone Temple Pilots and Cheap Trick showed up for long lasting fans from their earlier years. People of all ages came to the free concert series to see the BoDeans perform. They rocked the house and had everyone in the audience singing and dancing along with their music.

The BoDeans were formed by musicians Sam Llanas and Kurt Neumann in Wisconsin back in the early 1980s. Slash/Warner records signed them on with their music label after a full band was formed by adding a bassist and drummer. They immediately began to record their music, and the first album called Love & Hope & Sex & Dreams was released in 1986. Soon after, they were voted the Best New American Band by the Rolling Stones magazine.

Dance careers can be difficult to jump-start, so why not listen to some advice from professional dancers?

This past weekend, we had some additions to our usual group of friends, professional dancers. After I got over my initial sense of awe, we began to talk about their dance careers. I've always been Fascinated with how people rise to the top of their profession. Professional athletes, movie stars and bands, they all have a unique story but there are usually some core similarities. This article outlines the basic things you should do to start your career in dance to become a professional dancer. Now, you'll need a little bit of luck, good timing and connections as well, but you could get all of that while getting a Big Mac at your local McDonalds. Natural talent is a good base, but it will not take you to the top. You need to nurture that talent, develop it and present it to the right people. This article shows you the basics. Some are more obvious than others. Most of you just need some réassurance that you're taking the right steps to reach your goal, while others have no idea where to start. I believe that not all people in the know "have the level of talent they need, and not all people with talent are in the know". I want to change that, so let's start!

1. People do not become professionals in anything by reading a few articles or practicing a few hours a week. They become students of their profession. Students go to school. This goes for professional dancers as well. Now, there are a select few that push themselves on their own and have developed a wonderful ability, but that is still not enough. Their talent is rough and unrefined. Regardless of how many years you've Practiced in your basement, everyone needs some formal training. Nothing can replace a veteran dancer showing you right from wrong, critiquing you and encouraging you. Start by going to a dance studio. Obviously, the sooner you do this the better. You'll rack up experience and the younger you are the more receptive you are to learning. A good rule of thumb is the bigger the better the dance the dance studio professionals. However, a good teacher has experience, but also a connection with their pupil. This relationship can be forged at smaller, local dance studios as well. Remember, this is just the beginning. There are many professionals that reminisce about a grade school teacher that influenced them the most. Of course, it was probably some Julliard professor that trained them the most, but the person who taught them passion and desire is usually someone they dance with earlier in their career.

Some people say that music is a universal language. No matter where you go, music will always be one of the things you could find in common with other people. There is something about the way stories are told through music.

It so happens that even when it comes to pop music, Japan boasts of different artists who have shown that they are of international fame and accord. One of them is 23 year-old Utada Hikaru. She released her debut single as Cubic U in America. Later on she debuted in Japan as Utada Hikaru and her album was “First Love.”

Utada’s music could be said to be R&B and it is definitely not like the enka music that her mother used to sing. It is actually quite hip and would appeal to teens, no matter what nationality they are.

Utada’s latest album is Ultra Blue. It has the songs Keep Tryin’, Colors, This is Love and Passion, a song featured in Kingdom Hearts II of Square-Enix. A song from her album Sakura Drops, the one entitled Simple and Clean was a song featured in Kingdom Hearts.

Undeniably, Utada’s voice, songs and videos have improved over the years. She keeps on trying out different kinds of songs and if you look at her videos as well, there are huge differences. From the time she debuted as Cubic U and her current ones like Keep Tryin’. She also proven that she is marketable even outside Japan as she has collaborated with other artists like Foxy Brown for the song Blow My Whistle in the soundtrack of Rush Hour 2. Indeed she is one of the people to look up to in Japan.

Salsa dancing is a high energy, high impact, and exotic style of dance that that is as addictive to watch as it is to perform. Cuba gets the credit for Salsa’s origins in the 1950’s but it was the influence of Puerto Rico and many of the nearby Caribbean islands that made Salsa what it is today. By the 1970’s Salsa’s popularity really began to take off. This is the period when the term Salsa was the term used to describe this style of dance. Since then, this dance has become more and more popular for its sexy moves, excellent exercise, and the exciting music that comes with it.

As Salsa has become more popular so has the need for the dance wear that is needed when you dance. Shoes are one of the most important parts of dance wear for the dancer. Dance shoes differ from regular in many ways. First regular shoes are designed to look attractive as its first priority, and then they are made to be as comfortable as possible. Of course, compromises have to be made. The most beautiful shoes are certainly not necessarily comfortable if not uncomfortable and they will not be made for high impact activities. Dance shoes on the other hand, are designed from the beginning for comfort, grip on slick surfaces, light weight, and durability. After these features are designed into the shoe, then the looks of the shoe are developed. There are shoes available that are just as sexy and beautiful as regular shoe but are comfortable, durable, and light enough to dance in. In addition, you don’t necessarily have to pay more to have all of these features. Websites such as http://www.saveondancewear.com has a full selection of dance shoes at deep discounted prices to make them as affordable as regular shoes!

The next most important piece of dance wear you will absolutely have to have is your dance outfit. Much like shoes, the outfits made for dancing are greatly different than outfits made for regular wear and tear. Just as a runner would not run in blue jeans, a dancer would not Salsa dance in a formal dress. Dance wear is designed for ease of movement, comfort, and durability. With the exotic designs and styles of the outfits desired for salsa dancing, it is important to find a store that specializes in Salsa dance wear. The owners at http://www.saveondancewear.com state on their site, “With over 25 years in the dance industry we understand what dancers look for. Over the years we couldn't find the quality, uniqueness, and prices we desired. We now can offer it to all dancers.”
